AMG GLC 63. Guessing these aren’t too common.

Saw one a few weeks ago.  It makes some filthy noises.

Mercedes, and especially AMG, make some really great sounding V8s.

Here in SF/Marin they usually go for the bigger SUV or G wagon for the AMGs, a few wagons around and sedans. I would say they are far less common a choice for AMGs, if you got money you go for it .

You can’t blame Morgan for using a Merc engine.

Same in the SW burbs of Chicago  - GL 63's and G63's are reasonably common around me, as is the S63. I *occasionally* see an ML, but this is the only GLC I’ve seen.

No - even the non-sporty, non-AMG V8 in my car has a surprisingly throaty rumble when cold started.

Right after I took this picture, a woman walked past, climbed in that AMG, and drove away - but was moving slowly in a parking lot, so I didn’t get any good exhaust noises.

Oh for sure they are all pretty nice sounding, they could all use a better exhaust, I just notice that when people get an AMG around here they are usually pretty high end. I see a dark blue AWD AMG wagon around here and it is sexy.

Interestingly enough Canada only gets the GLC 63 S models (regular and coupe), while the regular 63 S isn’t available in the U.S. (only the 63 S Coupe is available, in addition to the regular GLC 63 models ).

If I ever get tired of mine, especially after the warranty runs out in 2 years, I might just chip it and put an exhaust on it. And maybe swap the first “5" in “550" for a “ 3" , just to be a complete ass.

The rhyme or reason between whether we get the ‘S’, the ‘plain’ or both for a given model seems completely random to me.

I see probably a couple a week that come zooming out of the MB dealership across the street, probably 50% test drives , but usually it’s G 63s I see. I have yet to see any of their AMG GTs come flying out, but they must because their inventory of them has had a pretty fair turnover.

Oh they sure do. I’ve driven a few 63's. The sound combined with the sheer brute force of the thing had me laughing every time I goosed the throttle.

Yeah, the dealer by my house (MB of Westmont) does a pretty good business in AMGs - last time I was there, there was one couple test driving (or buying?) a GLS63, someone else pulled up in a G63, and they had two S65's in the showroom - a coupe and a convertible.

This is the only GLC63 I’ve seen, though - and the GLC300's are everywhere.

Mine is only a 550, and I still giggle at the low end torque in that thing. I did test drive an RWD E63 also, and lit up the tires at about 35-40 MPH. Without getting more than about halfway into the throttle.

Was in Fort Lauderdale a few months ago, and of all the cars that I saw, the one that stuck with me was a black E63 sedan - with *straight pipes*.  Goddamn that car sounded glorious.

I’d guess that for every GLC63 I see, I see 25+ GLC300. Or, it at least seems like it. Oddly, the only times I see S65s are just out on the road, never see them coming/leaving the dealership.

This is literally the only GLC 63 I’ve seen - and the GLC300's are a dime a dozen now.

The S-class and G-class are funny - I’d say that 35% o f the S’s I see are S63, the rest 550's.  Very rare to see an S65, though there’s at least one around here.  And on the G-class, I swear that the G63 is actually more common than the G550.
